Housing prices increase in Croatia
In 2017, housing prices in Croatia increased by 7.6% compared to the previous year, according to the Statistics Bureau of Croatia.
The highest rate of price increase (more than 12%) was recorded in the largest city of Istria - in Pula. On the Adriatic coast, the housing price index rose 7.2% (5.9% adjusted for inflation) in the last quarter of 2017. Real estate prices in Zagreb grew by 9.8%, reports GlobalPropertyGuide.
In Zagreb, the price for new buildings also jumped by 15.8%, reaching a level of 1,630 euros per sq.m. While the cost of new buildings in other regions and cities grew by only 1%.
Consulting company "Colliers International" predicts a further rise in prices, due to increased demand and increased tourist flow.
Since January 1, 2017, Croatia has reduced the tax on the transfer of real estate from 5% to 4%.
